In 2000, our family partnered with the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation to create a memorial scholarship endowment for Joe. Through this partnership, together with the Community Foundation, we are able to honor and recognize a graduating high school senior that shares the same spirit and zeal for life that we loved about Joe.
Over our 17 year partnership, hundreds of gifts have been made to the Community Foundation for the Joe Brisson Memorial Scholarship Endowment. Those gifts have, in turn, supported 23 scholarship awards totaling more than $20,000.
Each year, the Community Foundation receives a variety of applications from worthy students – and often the need and our wish to support these students is greater than what the scholarship endowment can support.

We are proud of the impact that’s been made in Joe’s name and, through the power of endowment and the Community Foundation, we are comforted to know that these scholarships will continue in perpetuity. Yet, we would like to see the impact we can have in Joe’s name grow. With this in mind, in honor of Joe’s 50th birthday, we invite you to join us in celebrating Joe and building the impact we can have with a gift to the Community Foundation for Joe’s scholarship.
